About

Expect Abundance works on the model that we all have abundance in our lives, we just need to expect it.

EA believes that if one person is happier then that person will pass that happiness forward, making the world a better place one person at a time. I incorporate the lessons of ancestorial knowledge from this part of the world as well as where I was raised to help guide myself and you through your current position in life. Every culture is invaluable and so are the people that came before us. EA wants to empower and foster you, and an essential part of this is incorporating your family’s and land’s ancestral past. Afterall, we stand on the shoulders of who came before us. What’s more, knowing, accepting, and fully loving who we are as individuals and our cultural makeup reminds us of the strength and beauty we have and bring to this world, giving us the strength to live how we want.

Mission Statement

Honoring and empowering you so you have the abundant life that you deserve.

You are the client and therefore, you are the one who makes decisions in how you live your life. When we meet, you will tell me your goals and dreams and it is my role to provide you with resources and support to turn those into reality.

I want you to think of me as a friend who will give you the unconditional acceptance, care, and support we all deserve in this life during hardship and moving forward, to keep you living the abundant life you want for yourself.

We are all unique, beautiful beings that have our own experiences and bring our own special beauty and knowledge in this world. No matter what choices or experiences you make or made, I hope you trust and feel that I’ll only always see you as the invaluable person you are and that reflects in the support I like to provide.

Value Proposition

Point in Time (PIT) reports show that nightly, there are roughly 742 unhoused people in the city of Bellingham, WA. Bellingham has a variety of low-income housing and resources; however, the need is well over what is available. The vacancy rates for rentals are at 3% and 1% for homeownership. (2024 Annual Update on Homelessness). Further, over half of that population have unmet mental health and substance use needs. (https://cob.org/services/housing/homeless/stateofhousing)

That final statistic is significant to point out because over the five years I have provided Case Management to individuals in Bellingham, WA and Whatcom County, I have found repeatedly that these unmet needs create even more barriers to obtaining housing. Without person-specific supports and guidance, I have witnessed individuals unable to reach their desired goals. There may be low-income housing and resources, but without someone who can support navigating, applying for, and maintain connect with these resources, often times people with unmet health conditions cannot access or fulfil the requirements of these resources.

Despite all listed above, in the last two years of my case management career, when I had full creative liberty through Consistent Care and the Foundational Community Supports program, I had a 100% success rate of getting every one of my clients housed. I met a person where they were at, emotionally and their physical location, provided open-mind and judgment-free care, worked on their specific barriers together giving them independence skills, and identified and navigated resources that served their specific needs.

When I work with people, my goal is for them to feel how valuable they are, provide information and resources based on their specific needs and wants, and support what they end up choosing. I have experienced firsthand, that if a person wants something and they have nurturing environment to express and explore that want, they can reach and maintain that goal. That is the type of care and support I want to continue to bring to my community while exploring how I can make more housing options available to everyone in need of it.

ACTION

Expect Abundance recognizes that providing case management is a temporary and small solution to changing the housing needs and conditions for our communities. There is a need for social change in which communities and individuals start to uplift each other, there is a need for housing, and there is a need for legislative support treating homelessness as a public health crisis. EA plans to speak to local leaders, have a presence at city halls, and continue to provide an alternative message that says, "our community will thrive the more we give." If each community received the same quantity and quality of resources, we would see better health outcomes, less emergency services used, less unhoused people and families, and overall, people having more time to build things up themselves and their communities. EA believes, the less people living in survival mode, the more positive change and development that will happen for everyone in that community.
